Our "Quest" Interventions

The ‘Quests to Success’ Curriculum has three Quests and ensures that purposeful experiences are prioritised, based on need and starting points as well as exposing learners to a range of opportunities and approaches.

We believe we must first identify what is most important for each young person to learn to enable the next step of their journey. It is key that we offer learners a curriculum which is rich in pro-social experiences, knowledge, understanding and skills. For our curriculum to work at its best we must:

  • Know our learners well, including their families and wider networks.
  • Start from what each learner knows, understands and can do.
  • Allow our learners to excel at those things they do well.
  • Give our learners opportunities to achieve in the wider sense through our The Community Curriculum including firsthand learning and experiences (Pledges & 20 Golden Nuggets).
  • Develop opportunities to allow all learners to reduce their dependency on the staff around them in readiness for when they leave us, including self-regulation.
  • Enable learners to be valued members of their local community and be well placed to access the wider community
  • Celebrate success at every opportunity. To do this we must measure and value the progress our learners make including small steps
  • To have robust coping strategies (anxiety/behaviour) that can be independently used consistently to be able to thrive in a classroom environment.

"Discovering Me" Quest

Learners on this Quest will follow a Therapeutic Reflective Curriculum where Learners focus on their social, emotional and mental health needs. With a focus on the development of being able to reflect and adapt their behaviour responses to social situations.

"Being Me" Quest

Learners on this Quest  will follow a Thematic Well Rounded Curriculum, with learners offered discrete Maths, English and Life Skills. Learners will spend equal time on becoming a well-rounded individual fitting in society through timetabled social, emotional and mental health interventions.

"Celebrating Me" Quest

Learners on the "Celebrating Me" Quest have transitioned back to school after successful completing the "Being Me" Quest. We know coping with long term change is difficult for children and staff and the "Celebrating Me" Quest helps reduce that stress for both the child and the school by providing a weekly mentor to continuously support the child and school for a further term if necessary to ensure a successful reintegration.
